India managed to thump England by 68 runs in the semi final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Guyana. The pitch was slow and had variable bounce in it. However, due to the rain threat, England won the toss and elected to field first. Captain Rohit Sharma led from the front and scored 57 runs off 39 balls. Suryakumar Yadav was an able ally with 47 runs off 36 balls. The late strikes from Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel propelled India to 171 in their 20 overs.
England found it very tough to get going against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. They all capitulated for 103 runs in 16.4 overs. Yadav and Patel picked up 3 wickets each. Bumrah returned with 2 wickets in his tally. India will face South Africa the final at Barbados.
Now, the glaring question arises- what if the final is washed out? Who will emerge as the winner? Well, first off all if the game is tied, there will be a super over to determine the winner. There will continue to be a super over until one team manages to win the game. Moreover, there is a reserve day in place in case the match does not get completed on Saturday due to rain.
However, if a result is not obtained even on the reserve day due to weather, both India and South Africa will be declared as the joint winners of the T20 World Cup 2024. They will share the trophy.
The weather forecast predicts a cloudy, breezy day in Barbados during the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 between India and South Africa
The weather forecast indicates that the day of the final will be overcast, humid and breezy. There is a 20 to 47 percent chance of rain during the match.
There are thunderstorms predicted between 3 AM and 5 AM local time and also 3 PM and 5 PM local time. However, as the final will take place in between 10:30 AM local time and 2:30 PM local time, we expect to see rain staying away from the game.
Both India and South Africa have qualified for the final without losing a single game in the tournament. This will be the first instance that a team manages to win the T20 World Cup without losing any game. India will be looking to break their 10 years ICC trophy drought. On the other hand, South Africa will be lifting the World Cup for the first time if they capitalize on their first World Cup final appearance.
