British tennis star Liam Broady was born on January 4, 1994, in Stockport, England, to parents Shirley Broady and Simon Broady. From a young age, Liam started playing tennis and his parents were super supportive until an incident changed everything.

The 29-year-old has not won a title yet, but he has appeared in all four Grand Slam events and the Olympics as well. He reached his best when he was ranked No. 113 in 2022.

Liam was four when he held the tennis racquet. Soon he went to Matchpoint for his lessons and started showing potential. He completed his GCSE from the Norris Bank primary and Priestnall School in 2010.

Before he turned professional in 2014, an incident made his father so angry that he stopped talking with Liam for several years. This story also involves Liam’s sister Naomi Broady who is also a tennis player.

Liam Broady’s sister Naomi Broady was 17 years old in 2007. She uploaded a picture of her standing next to a condom machine as a consequence of which the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) suspended her funding.

This angered Simon Broady as he opined LTA overreacted. Simon refused funding from the LTA program which was offering help to Liam as well. Liam was 13 at that time.

In 2011, Simon told M.E.N Sports (via The Sun): “They made life so awkward for us that we simply had to cut ties with them. Since then we’ve existed however we can by paying for everything ourselves. It’s not easy but we were left with no option“.

To help his children with travel and coaching, Simon had to sell the family home. He refused the LTA’s offer as well which approached the family two weeks later. Simon started sending Liam and Naomi to Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Paris.

However, Liam’s act in 2012 spoiled his relationship with his father after he accepted LTA’s help. Liam started living with his other sister Emma in Stockpot then.

But to mend things with his father, he decided to fund himself which he did by renting his flat in Stockpot in 2016. He had said in an interview at that time that things were getting a bit better than what they used to be before.
