Why is the UFC successful?
Dana White
Mixed Martial Arts known as MMA is no doubt one of the fastest-growing sport in the world. The sport definitely owes its due to the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). UFC is the most successful mixed martial arts organization in the world. There are many other organizations that promote MMA but don’t come close to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The whole organization was put together by the current president of the promotion, Dana White, and its initial partners Fertitta brothers. Ultimate Fighting Championship revolves its business around live MMA events, television streaming, video games, merchandise, and sponsorships. There are other MMA promotions by the name of Bellator, ONE, Pro Fighters League (PFL), and more. What makes the UFC a class apart from these organizations?
UFC promotes the company over the fighters
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has been a marketing beast since its dawn. Unlike the other combat sports organizations, UFC promotes its own company ahead of its fighters. For example, It is always UFC 262: Oliveira vs Chandler over a sport like boxing that promotes its fighter’s name first. This has been the main moto of success for the company I believe. In boxing or other combat sports, it’s the fighters that are the star of the show, and it’s the fighters that sell the tickets, but it’s different in MMA. Organizations over the fighters.
Why are organizations like Bellator or ONE not as successful as UFC?
Dana White. The other organizations do not have a president like him. Dana has been successful in signing the world’s best fighters to his organization. UFC has produced stars that resonate with all the fans of the sports. Some of the names that come to mind are Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and many more. Every star had the potential to be some of the biggest sports athletes in the world along with the amazing talent that they bring to the table.
The fighters mentioned above were promoted so much that sometimes it didn’t even make sense. Silva made sure that the name of the organization was the first thing the people in Brazil when it came to Mixed martial arts. Likewise, the other fighters always represented their countries in some way which attracted more viewers from all around the world to tune into to watch the UFC fights.
UFC has held fights all over the world to make sure they solidify their fanbase globally. There have been events held in England, Ireland, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Australia, Canada, and Brazil. This has also been one of their “Mantra for success” if I may. There is no doubt that Ultimate Fighting Championship has broken stereotypes that Martial arts are violent and helped the sport grow to an unbelievable extent.
