In Short
  • Tiger Woods was involved in a two-car rollover crash and charged with multiple misdemeanors, including DUI.
  • An insider revealed Woods prefers not to have a driver to maintain privacy and avoid public scrutiny.
  • Woods faces a court date on April 23, with hopes to compete in the Augusta Masters despite his legal issues.

The name Tiger Woods has become synonymous with scandals as it has with victories and success during the prime of his life. If anything, the 50-year-old’s recent mugshot has been everywhere from social media feeds to t-shirts.

On March 27, Woods was involved in a two-car rollover crash and charged with three misdemeanor counts, including driving under the influence and property damage. The professional golfer, who was reportedly set to come back to competition with the Augusta Masters in the next two weeks, is no stranger to DUI arrests.

It was not long ago, just almost a decade before, when he infamously stopped in a traffic lane with the engine running under the influence. In the span of the last ten years, the latest incident is the third motor-involved accident, and everyone wants to know just a simple thing: why does Woods not have someone behind the wheel?

An exclusive source has now given some insider information on why that is. The source, in their exclusive interview with People, reportedly “doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing.”

The source also said that Woods thought that he was fine to drive. They also emphasized the privacy aspect, spotlighting his wish to keep his time with his family away from the eyes of hungry cameras. The source added:

He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games. He despises public scrutiny.

It’s not brain misfiring; the whole thing just doesn’t make sense. Woods doesn’t want a driver leaking some information to avoid public scrutiny, then he ends up in a car crash, which is also under the influence, and becomes a part of a bigger media scrutiny. Dave Portnoy, Emmanuel Acho, and Stephen A. Smith are barely the ones who have berated the golfer in the wake of the national headline arrest.

Tiger Woods had two pills in his left pocket as the police report reveals more insight into the incident

Tiger Woods was initially arrested and charged with a misdemeanor after he failed to comply with urinalysis. It wasn’t fully confirmed whether he was driving under the influence, but the latest police report has revealed more information about what went down in Florida that day.

Woods reportedly had two white pills, now revealed as pain medication hydrocodone, in his left pocket. According to the report, Woods was also sweating profusely when he climbed out of the passenger seat following the crash.

Furthermore, the affidavit also said that the 15-time major winner had “bloodshot and glassy eyes“, “extremely dilated pupils” as well as appeared “lethargic and slow” during his field sobriety exercises, most of which he failed.

With a court date now set for April 23 at 8:30 AM, the clock is ticking for the five-time Masters winner. Despite the legal heat, as of March 31, he’s still officially on the entry list for the season’s first Major.

If he actually tees it up at Augusta, it’ll be his first Major appearance since The Open in July 2024. A week ago, Woods had briefly appeared in the second game of the three-match final series between his Jupiter Links GC and the Los Angeles Golf Club for the SoFi Cup. The Los Angeles GC, headlined by Rio Olympics gold medalist Justin Rose, defeated the Jupiter Links in two straight games to lift the cup and become only the second champions of the TMRW TGL.

Woods hadn’t appeared in the first game, which was a neck-and-neck battle between the two teams. The 50-year-old, albeit for a short time on even a simulated crowd, had given hope for fans to see him very shortly in Georgia. In the absence of Woods, all eyes will be on Rory McIlroy, who won the title and a green jacket last year at this very same venue.
