Virat Kohli is among the fittest athletes in the world right now, and his being a fitness freak is well known to many. That stamina he gets on the field, his swift and alert fielding, and the runs he steals, are all due to what he did to his body plus his disciplined life.

Being a Delhi boy and being a huge foody, who craved the local ‘Chhole Bhaturas‘- a young Kohli had bizarre eating habits. He would eat all the junk foods of the world- he only claimed this in an interview. The ambitious player he is from the very start, he knew that sticking to bad eating practices can restrict him from doing something he can do easily with swiftness.

Maybe one can’t cut out “Chhola Bhaturas” for many years, but Kohli had to, because of the requirement of the high level of competition. Well, this just proves how much willpower this 34-year-old has!

Though he put his frequent consumption of junk food on hold, he did not remove meat from his diet. He continued eating chicken breast, salmon, lamb chops, and other meats but stopped them altogether in 2018. Dieticians say eating vegetables, pulses, grains, nuts, fruits, and soya are enough to get protein in the body even for international athletes, but Kohli did not change his diet just because of the growing trend of becoming a vegan or vegetarian.

Virat Kohli was dealing with a cervical spine issue, his stomach became a bit acidic, while his uric acid went high. People suffering from uric acid are told to avoid food containing purine- a substance present in certain foods, which forms uric acid on oxidation.

I had a cervical spine issue which resulted in a tingling sensation in my little finger making it difficult for me to bat. It happened around the Centurion Test in South Africa in 2018,” Kohli said in an old interview.

Moreover, my stomach became a bit acidic, my uric acid went high, and my stomach started pulling calcium from the bones which resulted in the spine issue. Hence, I had to cut down on meat and now I feel better than ever,” he added.

His fans are always in rush to practice a Virat Kohli diet and exercise habits in their daily life. Kohli is a fitness freak, but he is certainly not out of his mind when it comes to his diet; he has sensible eating habits and not the extreme ones.

Back in 2019, while responding to messages on social media, he revealed that his meal comprises lots of vegetables, some eggs, two cups of coffee, dal, quinoa, lots of spinach, and dosa also. He does adds variety to his diet but at the same time he eats them in “controlled quantities“.

When his diet became a discussion point on social media, he shared a post where he revealed he is not a vegan but follows a vegetarian diet.
