- Travis Kelce is considering whether to return for a 14th season with the Chiefs or transition to broadcasting.
- Kelce finished the 2025 season as the Chiefs' top receiver, with 76 catches and 5 touchdowns.
- Will Compton believes Kelce will return to the Chiefs to avoid ending his career on a low note.
As Travis Kelce decides about his future in the NFL, the football fraternity continues to speculate about his next move. Kelce has the option to come back to the Chiefs and play his 14th season of pro football. Or he can walk away, get married to Taylor Swift, and continue to churn out new podcast episodes. Another group thinks Travis will follow his brother’s path and sign on with one of the big four (ESPN, NBC, FOX, and CBS) as an announcer.
The Chiefs can still use Kelce’s skills as an elite pass catcher. Even at the age of 36, Kelce finished as the Chiefs’ top yard getter in 2025. In 17 starts, Kelce racked up 76 catches for 851 yards and scored 5 touchdowns.
Kelce has branched out beyond the football field, co-hosting a podcast with his older brother, retired Eagles center Jason Kelce, which has now surpassed 3 million subscribers. Keeping that in mind, big media corporations are reportedly eyeing Kelce as a fresh face in their gameday booth.
A report from Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports indicated that Kelce could sign a $15 million per year deal if he opts to say goodbye to football. Former NFL linebacker Will Compton, who played for the Chiefs’ AFC West rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, was quick to interject his thoughts on Kelce moving to broadcasting.
Compton hosts the very popular Bussin’ With the Boys of Barstool Sports and makes occasional appearances on ESPN; he wants to see Kelce suit up for the Chiefs once more and challenge for a fourth ring.
I bet Travis Kelce runs it back with the Chiefs for one more year. Everything waiting for him will still be there. He isn’t ending his career 6-11, 3rd in the division, the laughing stock of the NFL, & seeing the dynasty he helped build continue to burn. He can’t go out like that.

Travis Kelce shares what he’ll miss most about football once he retires
The Kelce brothers hosted Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss in the latest episode of their podcast. Aside from Jason’s daughter, Elliotte‘s cute cameo, the trio discussed life after retirement.

Kelce opened up about what he will miss about playing whenever he calls time on his legendary career.
Those moments in the big games, man. The feeling of having to rise to the occasion, be there for, you know, 70,000, that are all counting on you out there, outside of just the guys that you go to war with, you guys go to battle with, man.

It is a sign that he might opt to hang the boots afterall. That said, until there’s an official announcement from the three-time champ, it is futile to speculate on his next course of action. One thing he can do is to get married to the love of his life. Rumor has it that Swift and Kelce have set their sights on June 13, 2026, for their dream wedding.
Then again, he can still come back even after the event. If he decides against it, then Kelce will miss the thrill of starring in playoff games.
Those moments of rising to the occasion in the heat of the battle, you know, in the playoffs and all the big games out there, man, that’s a feeling that I know I’ll never get again. And those are the things that you cherish the most.

Kelce and Swift began dating in 2023. The Grammy winner has watched the Chiefs clinch a Super Bowl and lose another one in back-to-back years. If Kelce does return, it will be for the elusive fourth ring.
