The Baltimore Ravens have faltered again in their quest to win a Super Bowl. Now that analysts start to examine what led to their exit at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson has been left to rue another wasted year.
That frustration showed up at the post-game press conference when the 28-year-old blurted out expletives. He apologized for his words, but those curses were fitting considering his body language made it very evident he was angry.
Jackson blamed himself for their early game turnovers and suggested the team needs to do a better job at holding on to the ball. However, the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff will probably go back and check film on what all they need to fix.
Lamar Jackson is now 3-5 in the playoffs in his first seven seasons in the NFL. As per Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analytics, that record is eerily similar to another great. That player then went on to win the Super Bowl twice and ended up in football history as one of the greatest ever.
all facts:

Lamar Jackson has been in the NFL 7 years
he's 3-5 in the playoffs
Peyton Manning's first 7 years in the NFL:
3-5 in the playoffs
Manning went to the playoffs his 8th year
went 0-1
Manning went to the playoffs his 9th year
went 4-0 & won the Super Bowl
Comparing to Peyton Manning at this stage might be premature, but the similarities in their first seven seasons are uncanny. Add to that, both players won two regular season MVPs in that period. Jackson is favorite to win his third this season, but the comparisons could point to Super Bowl down the line.
Lamar Jackson needs a bit more from Ravens if they are win Super Bowl
Lamar Jackson did own up to the turnovers he caused early in the Ravens-Bills Divisional round game. However, he was also critical of the way the team could not hold on to the ball whenever they had it. This could indicate that the Baltimore Ravens have to clean up a lot of their mistakes.
They will also have to find ways to play in cold weather. Former greats have mentioned that it is difficult for normal weather teams who do not play in the cold to suddenly fight it out against teams in freezing temperatures.
Or the Baltimore Ravens will have to figure out how to add weapons to their roster who can offset that. Their plans to try that with Diontae Johnson did not work out. But it should give them a reason to look for better players who can help Jackson lead the offense.
Cleaning up mistakes and having a team capable of winning a Super Bowl are primary needs. Then coaches will also need to sit down and talk it out with Jackson on how to avoid trying to do too much. Fix all that and maybe he could join Peyton Manning as Super Bowl winners.
