Will Ruben Neves’ addition add more creativity in central midfield for Manchester United?

As the 2020-21 season enters its final phase club owners are on a buying spree to buy the best players in European football. One of the clubs who has also joined the race like other clubs to buy some of the best players and to prepare a team for the future is Manchester United. One of the upcoming stars who is on Manchester United’s radar is Wolverhampton Wanderers FC central midfielder Ruben Neves.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers FC player will add creativity and cohesion to the overall functioning of the midfield. The 25-year-old will provide flexibility as Neves can play as a midfielder, striker as well as at the wings. The Red Devils have already shown interest in buying striker, Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund FC and midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United and have added Neves in their priority list.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will relish the presence of both Neves and Declan Rice as both differ in technique and skills but on the other hand, will provide pace and creativity in the midfield. The midfield also consists of some fine playmakers in the form of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba and Neves’ possession-based style of play against defensively stronger sides will come in handy.
The midfielder has shown tremendous control combined with his ability to split the opposition’s defence with his electric counter attacks. Neves can change his game offensively as well as defensively which is one of his biggest strengths. Neves is a fine coordinator during set pieces and has the knack of setting up goals with his clever presence of mind. The Portuguese has looked in decent goal-scoring form scoring 5 goals in 30 Premier League games so far this season with 1 assist to his name.
Ruben Neves could be just who Manchester United need

Playing under Solskjaer will prepare Neves temperamentally as well as tactically. Solskjaer and the team management normally employ 4-2-3-1 formation but it has to be seen what role the Portuguese is employed as. Neves could be utilized as an attacking as well as a defensive midfielder and his roles could be interchanged depending on the opposition’s strengths and game plan.
Neves’ presence will also provide an attacking flair to the forward line while his on-field understanding with star forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford will be crucial against teams who possess more muscle in the midfield as well as the defence. The midfielder needs to show commitment and be at par with other players as far as his individual performance is concerned given the competition in the squad.
Solskjaer too needs to give enough playing time to the Wolverhampton Wanderers FC player as it will help Solskjaer to assess the opposition’s combination and game plan which will make Neves more robust and complete in his technique. The 46-year-old manager will have to pick a combination depending on the opposition they play against and needs to assess how Neves will be accommodated. Neves will surely be a vital link if his deal with Manchester United materializes. It will be a big boost for Manchester United’s overall set up if the Red Devils manage to lure him to Old Trafford.
