Will Smith is back in his element, spotted in Atlanta at the sets of the fourth Bad Boys film. The 54-year-old actor is sharing the set with the regular cast of the franchise, including Michael Jordan‘s ex-teammate John Salley. In a recent interview, Salley shared an interesting anecdote about working with Will Smith.

During an appearance on the Byron Scott’s Fast Break podcast, Salley discussed his transition from professional basketball to acting and reflected on his experience working alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

From the start, the former power forward found Smith to be “too intense.” To Salley’s surprise, Smith had memorized the entire script, using it as a method to master his role. This level of preparation left a strong impression on Salley, who admitted he quickly learned not to glance in Smith’s direction while delivering his own lines.

You can’t look at him cause his lips are moving cause he’s saying your line knowing his line is coming.

John Salley joked

That wasn’t all, John Salley gave another testament to Will Smith’s intensity towards acting. Recalling pandemic time, the former Lakers athlete addressed bumping into Smith down his vanity when neither of them were permitted to leave, due to covid regulations. Salley revealed how the American actor spent six extra hours with the team to edit the script when the shoot was scheduled the next day.

Will Smith is making his return to the film industry after a controversial break. The American actor’s career was put in jeopardy after he slapped Chris Rock at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony, just moments before winning the Oscar for Best Actor. As a result of the altercation, Smith was given a 10-year ban from the Motion Picture Academy.

John Salley not the only NBA player ‘dying’ to be a ‘Bad Boy’

Bad Boys: Ride or Die was released earlier this summer, but the hype for the movie has not subsided. While the superhit Bad Boys franchise did not need much publicity, the inclusion of global superstars has never been a bad idea. However, nobody expected that the Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler would be the one.

The NBA star initially appears on the television screen while the actors, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence sat on the couch. As the news channel plays, Butler announces going away from NBA and expresses his desire to join the Bad Boys. As the trailer plays, Butler actually shows up to the house and trained with the duo to join the team.

The rest of the trailer featured Butler training intensely to become one of the ‘Bad boys’. However, the Heat star eventually has a change of heart and returns to basketball. After Butler, Inter Miami star Lionel Messi knocks on the duo, only for them to shut the door on him.
