Tee Higgins’ days on the sidelines are coming to an end. On Monday, he will make his 2024 season debut for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Washington Commanders.
Following a long holdout during the off-season for a new contract, Higgins agreed to play with the franchise tag and earn $21.48 million for the 2024 campaign. Unfortunately, right before the Bengals season opener against the New England Patriots, the doctors revealed that the 25-year-old wide receiver suffered a hamstring injury.
As a result, Higgins missed the Patriots game and the Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Unhappy fans targeted him for not showing up when the team needed him. His mother came to his defense, but only performing during the game can shut them up.

Throughout this week, Higgins participated in the training drills at the Bengals facility. On Saturday, just one day before the tie, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport announced that the Bengals cleared Tee Higgins to start the week 3 game against the Commanders.

The Bengals need Tee Higgins to contribute on an elite level
While the Chiefs were always going to be a tough opponent to defeat, losing to the Patriots on the season’s opening day raised a lot of eyebrows. The Bengals missed a couple of key players, including Higgins and an edgy Ja’Marr Chase, because his stagnant contract extension did not help the cause.
Quarterback Joe Burrow returned after missing half of last season with a bad wrist—looked rusty and unprepared. So far, Burrow has completed 44 passes for 422 yards and 2 touchdowns while taking 6 sacks, causing 3 fumbles and losing the ball once.
Higgins’ inclusion in the Commanders’ game should allow Burrow to play more freely and take more risks.
We’re obviously a better team with him out there. Hopefully we have him on Sunday [Monday]; if not we feel confident in the guys we have, but we are obviously more dynamic and a much better team with Tee out there.Joe Burrow said on Thursday

Since being drafted by the Bengals in the second round, Tee Higgins, as mentioned by Burrow, has been a massive reason for their success. The Clemson graduate caught 257 catches for 3684 receiving yards (14.3 yards per catch) and 24 touchdowns in 58 games.
The Monday night showdown against the Commanders is crucial for the Bengals. Despite starting 0-2, Zac Taylor’s team is the heavy favorite to win the game with -7.5 on the spread, according to Sports Illustrated.
