After a solid start to the season, the Toronto Maple Leafs have suffered a small bump. On Tuesday, the team lost their third straight game which brought down boos from the home fans. William Nylander though brushed off the concerns and expressed confidence in bouncing back to form.

Following two back-to-back wins against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Maple Leafs took on the Carolina Hurricanes while having a 27-13-2 record. They would suffer a crushing 6-3 defeat against the Canes.

This loss was followed by a 3-0 defeat at home against the Vancouver Canucks. Fans at the Scotiabank Arena would boo the team as the made their way off the ice.

The third successive loss of the Leafs came on Tuesday as the Dallas Stars handed them a 4-1 beatdown. Once again the spectators were not pleased with the performances of the Maple Leafs and let their voices be heard.

Despite these three losses, the Maple Leafs still hold the top spot in the Atlantic Division. Speaking regarding this slump, William Nylander claimed that “good teams find their way out” from such slumps. He also shockingly claimed asked what was the big deal of losing three games.

It doesn’t really matter if they boo. I mean, we know we’re a good team, so, yeah. I think all good teams need to go through some stretch where everything’s not clicking and everything like that. So, yeah, I mean, good teams find their way out of this. And, I mean, it’s only been three games, so what’s the big deal, really?

This comment of Nylander has left the fans on social media divided. While many backed him, there were some who were seemingly not happy with this.

It is now the second time this season that the Maple Leafs have dropped three games on the spin. Earlier in October, they lost 6-2, 5-1, and 4-3 in OT against the Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues and the Boston Bruins respectively.

On several occasions, the Toronto Maple Leafs fanbase has booed their team off the ice after the team’s poor performance. Following the 4-1 loss against the Dallas Stars, boos rang out across the Scotiabank Arena as the game came to an end. Forward Mitch Marner would reflect on this and seemed unfazed by this reaction.

In a media greet on Wednesday, the 27-year-old winger claimed that he just tries to “ignore” them and focus on the next day.

Just try to ignore it. You know, we’re just trying to do our job out there and go out and put together a full 60 and, you know, we got a good practice today, good video session.

Mitch Marner told the reporters

In the final year of his six-year contract extension, Mitch Marner is having a good time on the ice field. The Canadian international has picked up 60 points (14 goals and 46 assists) in just 45 games. At this rate, he is expected to break his previous best record of 99 points.

The Maple Leafs will now turn their attention to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. The Devils themselves come into this game on the back of a 2-1 shootout loss against the Florida Panthers and will be looking to make amends for their previous disappointment.
