Why did the police arrest Xavier Worthy?

According to documents from the sheriff’s office, Worthy ‘choked’ a family member, a woman, and as per Texas law, the act of impeding someone’s breath is a felony and chargeable as assault.

The police took Worthy into their custody but didn’t press charges against him immediately as his attorney, Chip Lewis, and Sam Bassett, denied all the allegations. They argued that the woman, who was staying at Worthy’s house, was asked to vacate for the last two weeks, which she refused.

The complainant was recently asked to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity. She has refused to do so and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy.
