Willson Contreras has seemingly had enough of the Milwaukee Brewers. After being hit by the pitch once again on Monday, the Boston Red Sox issued a warning to the National League Central team over their repeated hits on him.

The Red Sox are not having a good start to the season. After winning on Opening Day, they won just one of their next 8 games. This poor run of form included in them getting swept by the Houston Astros at Daikin Park.

The American League East side was thus in need of a major result. In the matchup at Fenway Park, they took the lead in the bottom of the first inning through a single from Trevor Story.

The highlight moment regarding Contreras came in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Brewers’ starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff ended up hitting the Red Sox star in the hand and walked him. This turned out to b the 6th time he had been hit by a pitch from Woodruff.

Contreras was visibly upset with this hit and exchanged a few words with the pitcher. His brother, William Contreras, who plays as the catcher for the Brewers, would get in between him and his teammate to diffuse the tension.

The Brewers would challenge this hit-by-pitch call. Upon review, the original call stood, leading to the Red Sox loading up the bases. As Wilyer Abreu hit a ground ball, Contreras would slide in at second base and made contact with David Hamilton, who seemed shaken up. The Red Sox would take a 2-0 lead through this forceout.

A sacrifice fly from Story made it a 3-0 game in the third inning. The Brewers came back and put up 4 runs on the board in the top of the 4th inning to turn things around.

The two sides kept exchanging blows, with Contreras going 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. In the end, the Brewers ended up winning 8-6 and improved to an 8-2 record.

After the game, Contreras took a shot at the Brewers. This was the 24th time in his career that he had been hit by a pitch by the NL team. While speaking with the reporters, the older Contreras fired a warning of taking someone out next time if he got hit again.

They always say, ‘I’m not trying to hit you.’ That gets old. So next time they hit me again, I’m going to take one of them out. That’s the message.

This game was the Red Sox’s 8th defeat of the campaign, and they fell to a 2-8 record. At the time of writing, this is the worst record in the league so far this season.

Despite the hit by pitch, Woodruff remained in the game and threw 5.2 innings. He did give up 5 runs (3 earned) and 2 walks, but he also picked up 4 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Yelich went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a walk while playing as the DH.

When asked about Contreras’ reaction to the hit, the 3-time All-Star waived it away with a simple message.

I mean, we’ve seen that skit for the last 10 years. It’s nothing new.

The Red Sox, who have lost their last two games with an 8-6 scoreline, will be hoping to snap a 3-game losing run on Tuesday. After the series against the Brewers, they will travel to take on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Detroit Tigers.

The Brewers, on the other hand, will have a 6-game homestand next. They will welcome the Washington Nationals and the struggling Toronto Blue Jays to American Family Field.
