Barbora Krejcikova lifted her second Grand Slam title by beating Jasmine Paolini in the 2024 Wimbledon Women’s final on Saturday (July 13). Krejcikova, who is also a French Open champion and won multiple major doubles titles, defeated Paolini in three sets 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 on the Centre Court and earned a hefty amount.

Krejcikova, who also knocked out 2022 Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, won the first set. A resilient Paolini, after playing the longest Wimbledon Women’s semifinal against Croatia’s Donna Vekic, fought hard to take the lead. But Krejcikova used her experience to clinch the title and took home the winner’s prize money.

I am particularly pleased that we have been able to increase prize money for the wheelchair and quad wheelchair competitions to £1 million for the first time.
