On Tuesday, top seed Pablo Carreno Busta earned a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory against Soonwoo Kwon at the Winston-Salem Open, and he expects to capture his third tour-level title this week. The Spaniard was matched against Kwon after defeating World No. 1 Novak Djokovic to earn bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in July. He defeated Dominik Koepfer in straight sets in the round of 16 to advance to the quarter finals, where he will face Ivashka.
Ilya Ivashka defeated Andreas Seppi in the first round. In the following round, he had to face Marin Cilic, a former grand slam champion. Cilic won the first set, but Ivashka collected all his spirit and defeated Cilic in the second. Ivashka made a statement by beating Cilic in the second round.
