Ryan Garcia’s year has been anything but smooth, dominated by controversies and personal struggles. From testing positive for drug use to openly battling mental health issues on social media, the 26-year-old has faced significant challenges. Yet, amidst it all, rapper Wiz Khalifa has taken a supportive stance, offering a positive outlook on Garcia’s antics.
Earlier this year, Garcia faced a variety of criticism online for his anti-black and racist rant on the internet. Despite that, Wiz Khalifa was seen shaking hands with the athlete which had started a different controversy for the rapper. However, in a recent interview, Khalifa explained the situation and shared his point of view.
He Ain’t Call Me A N-Word. He ain’t the first person that said the n-word that shouldn’t be saying the n-word and I shook their hand. … I ain’t tripping on Ryan

Khalifa is well known for staying out of controversies and shares a great camaraderie with Garcia. However, his relationship with the boxer was overshadowed by the backlash he got from the public. But it seems like irrespective of the criticism, Khalifa still believes in his opinions.

Garcia is one of the biggest young superstars in the world of boxing with the ability to knockout anyone. The PPV giant was acting to be mentally unstable ahead of his last fight against Devin Haney.
Aftermath of Ryan Garcia’s N-Word controversy
As expected, Ryan Garcia faced significant backlash after making offensive remarks during a Twitter Spaces discussion. He frequently used racial slurs, insulted Black and Muslim communities, and referenced George Floyd in a highly disrespectful manner. These comments drew criticism from figures like Stephen Jackson and led the WBC to expel him from its activities.

Garcia’s family later released a statement disavowing his behavior, attributing it to his struggles with mental health and substance abuse. He subsequently sought professional help to address these issues. The fighter also apologized publicly and accepted his substance abuse.
I take all responsibility for my words

I’m misunderstood, I just got a lot of trauma
And It’s been a tough couple of months as everyone can tell but I AM SORRY
I struggle with substance abuse and it hard for me with everything going on
I actually love black people no cap…
Since then, Garcia has been on a path of retribution and is currently scheduled to go against Japanese boxer Rukiya Anpo. It is going to be an exhibition but the trash talking between both fighters shows a different narrative. On top of that, Garcia has also talked about potentially fighting Jake Paul in 2025.
