Two of the top talents in the WNBA, A’ja Wilson and Angel Reese, are set to team up and take their talents to the movie industry. They are set to join four-time NBA Champion Stephen Curry in the ensemble voice cast of the upcoming animated sports comedy film titled “GOAT”. Curry is one of the producers of the movie under his Unanimous Media company.
A’ja Wilson is coming off a historic WNBA campaign. Widely considered as one of the greatest WNBA players of all time, Wilson became the only player in the WNBA or NBA to ever win the championship, scoring title, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP in the same season. Drafted as the number one pick in the 2018 WNBA draft, Wilson helped Las Vegas Aces win their first-ever championship in 2022. She has gone on to win two more titles in 2023 and 2025.
Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese is another player making her case as the best player in the league. Selected as the seventh pick in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky, Reese is already a two-time WNBA All-Star in her first two seasons in the league. Despite having a young WNBA career, Reese has already made her presence off the court through her business ventures and has focused on collaborating with exclusive brands due to her love for fashion.
Wilson and Reese are reported to make cameos in the movie. Wilson plays a reptile named Kouyate while Reese will be lending her voice for a polar bear character named Propp. “GOAT” marks Reese’s second movie role after her cameo appearance in “A House of Dynamite”, starring Idris Elba, while Wilson made a cameo in LeBron James-led Space Jam: A New Legacy in 2021.

“GOAT” follows Will (voiced by Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin), a small goat in an all-animal universe with ambitions of playing “roarball”, which is this universe’s version of basketball.

The additions of the two WNBA superstars have brought in more excitement for the animated movie, and WNBA fans could not contain their celebrations across social media.
Is this a bold move to merge sports icons with animation, or just a gimmick?

Stephen Curry on his upcoming production “GOAT”
The movie is scheduled for release next month, on February 13, and has been in the works for over six years. Curry has been an active producer through his company Unanimous Media (named after his unanimous MVP and being the first player in NBA history to do so) and served as an executive producer for various projects over the years.

Curry plays the role of a giraffe named Lenny Williamson in the movie. The Golden Warriors star sat down for an exclusive chat with USA TODAY and spoke about his upcoming project.
It has something in there for every generation. We’re bringing something that hopefully is inspiring, something that brings family together, and something that’s uplifting to a lot of different people in the audience that can find their best selves through one of the characters.
The film’s animation is done by Sony Pictures Imageworks, taking the same animation styles used on popular movies such as KPop Demon Hunters and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
