Some fans were thrilled to see how extensively the Indiana Fever and current Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark were featured in the WNBA’s 2025 broadcast schedule, which was announced last week. In 41 additional nationally televised games that will be shown on CBS, ABC/ESPN, and Ion, the Fever will be heavily highlighted.

While this is huge news for the Fever and their fans, it does seem a bad move for other WNBA teams. This move by the WNBA showcases Clark’s popularity in the sport. Notably, the Minnesota Lynx’s star player, Napheesa Collier, had an intriguing take on the sports networks’ recent decision. She partly agreed with it and also explained the reason behind the move.

I mean, obviously, people want to watch Caitlin play, and so, you have to put people on TV that people want to see. But at the same time … to not have the defending champs on TV more, I think it’s kind of crazy. It doesn’t have to be where you’re taking games away from Indiana, but I think you can raise the level of TV games for the other teams as well.

Some teams have even moved their games versus the Fever to larger arenas to satisfy ticket demand. Given that, it’s hard to blame the WNBA for trying to capitalize on Clark’s star power. In addition, many Fever fans applauded Collier for her unbiased take on ESPN’s First Take show via their socials. Notably, Collier did make a point against Clark and the Fever.

She stated on the show that the WNBA is not giving it its all to promote their champions, the New York Liberty. For context, the Las Vegas Aces, who won back-to-back crowns the two years prior and have reigning MVP A’ja Wilson, have 33 games on national television. On the other hand, reigning champs, New York Liberty, who have standout guard Sabrina Ionescu and forward Breanna Stewart, have just 32.

Fans praise Napheesa Collier for her recent take regarding WNBA star Caitlin Clark and the Fever

Napheesa Collier indirectly claimed that Caitlin Clark is one of the biggest superstars of the WNBA in her recent assessment of the WNBA’s broadcasting schedule. While the Lynx star claimed that the league should promote other stars, she had nothing but appreciation for Clark. Collier also claimed that she has ‘no problem with Clark.’

I don’t think [Clark being featured so much is] an issue. I do think Caitlin is a star, and like I said, people want to see her…you need to put on TV the players that people want to see.

This won over the hearts of WNBA fans, especially Fever fans, as they took to various social media apps to put forward their views and thoughts on Collier’s recent statements. One fan wrote on X, “Phee is awesome. That was a good answer. League just needs to figure out how to get more games in front of a national audience…” Check out some of the fan reactions below:

Aside from this, the 2025 season will begin on Saturday, May 17, when the Fever hosts the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese. The game will air on Disney+, ESPN+, and ABC.
