Angel Reese has declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft

The WNBA is about to get a generationally great player in Caitlin Clark to join their ranks. Now, Clark’s arch-rival Angel Reese has declared for the upcoming 2024 Draft. This came off as a surprise as many expected Reese to continue her college career due to the better pay from NIL deals.

After LSU lost to Iowa in the NCAA Elite Eight, Angel Reese had a decision to make about her future. She did have a COVID-19 year left if she wanted to play for one more year in college. Previously, Reese stated that she had no motivation to move to the WNBA. Reese cited that college made her more money and fame than the WNBA could. However, the 6′ 3″ forward has confirmed that she wants to go pro and forego her final year of eligibility.

Angel Reese comes with a baggage of swagger along with her basketball skills. The former 5-star recruit has a bigger impact on social media than any female basketball player worldwide. Along with Caitlin Clark, Reese could help transform the fortunes of the WNBA. Currently, many 2024 mock drafts project Reese to be a top-10 pick and could either be picked up by the Los Angeles Sparks or the Minnesota Lynx.

The ‘Bayou Barbie’ has an incredible interior presence. Although she played as a center for LSU, she will be more suited to a forward’s role in the WNBA. But forwards need outside shooting, which she currently lacks. This alone should not deter general managers from drafting her for her ability to score at will inside the paint.

Angel Reese’s WNBA move leaves fans surprised

A bonafide superstar in her own right, Angel Reese has created a lasting impact on women’s college basketball. Had she continued to play at LSU, she could only add to her income and fame.
