WATCH: Caitlin Clark’s father’s seemingly ‘FED UP’ reaction after daughter’s argument with referees is going viral
Caitlin Clark wants to win the NCAA Championship before heading to the WNBA.
Caitlin Clark's father yells at her during NCAA March Madness game, for complaining to referees
In the history of sports, superstar athletes tend to argue with officials if calls do not go their way. Caitlin Clark is no different, and she complained a lot about Holy Cross players getting away with fouls. In the hotly contested NCAA March Madness games, heated competition does lead to a lot of physical play. However, after one such complaint, a viral video clip showed Clark’s interaction with her father.
As the game continued, Caitlin Clark and her Iowa Hawkeyes slowly built on their lead. The unmatched Holy Cross Crusaders tried to use their physicality to slow down the Hawkeyes. Although the referees did call some fouls, the reigning all-time NCAA scoring leader complained to referees about some no-calls. In the closing seconds of the 2nd quarter, while Clark complained to referees about one such call, her father, Brent Clark, was captured on video yelling at his daughter to shut up.
It seems senior Clark was fed up with his daughter’s non-stop complaints. After all, complaining will not necessarily change the attitude of referees. Brent Clark wanted to let his daughter know she should get on with the game instead of looking for fouls. Even though these incidents kept frustrating the college superstar, she led her team to a 91-65 win.
Posting a near triple-double, Clark struggled with turnovers. Some of these were attributed to forceful physical pressure from Holy Cross players. However, these turnovers need fixing before heading into the latter stages of March Madness.
Caitlin Clark’s goal: NCAA title before heading for WNBA
Caitlin Clark’s six turnovers remain a worry if she wants to win an NCAA title before heading to the WNBA. Clark’s play was also not to her usual high numbers. Obviously, winning an NCAA Championship will cement her legacy as the greatest college basketball player ever. But to reach that goal, she has to clean up those turnovers and return to her dominant self.
The path for her Iowa Hawkeyes is the toughest among all high-ranking college teams in any category. She might face last season’s champions, the LSU Tigers and archrival Angel Reese, in the regional finals. If they win that game, they will likely face rising superstar Juju Watkins and her USC Trojans in the Final Four.
And if Caitlin Clark does make it to the Championship Finals, she will most likely face the unbeaten South Carolina Gamecocks. She needs the best version of herself out on the field to win it all. This must be why her father probably shouted at her to stop complaining and get on with the game.
