Wolverhampton Wanderers player Ruben Vinagre joins Sporting CP on loan

Portuguese defender Ruben Vinagre has joined Liga NOS champions Sporting CP on a one-year deal, with an option to buy the play permanently next summer.
This will be Ruben’s third loan spell in Portugal after joining the Wolves. He played for Portuguese clubs Olympiacos and Famalicao in the 2020/21 edition of the league. The 22-year-old started his youth career with Belenenses before joining Sporting CP in 2012. In 2015, he joined the French club AS Monaco.
“Now, he returns to his home nation to link up with the Liga Nos champions ahead of their 2021/22 campaign,” a statement from the club read.
Speaking of his senior team experience, he failed to make a single appearance for AS Monaco between 2016 – 2018. He joined the Wolves on loan in the 2017/18 season and found the net once during nine appearances for the English side.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Wolverhampton Wanderers roped in the young defender. He has played 34 games for the side to date and will surely get a few games in the coming seasons. He is a talented player and could go on to become a key player for the club in the future.
The Portuguese defender has represented the youth national side and is yet to break into Portugal’s senior national squad in the coming years.
How did Ruben Vinagre fare in the Liga NOS?
Ruben spent the early 2020/21 season with Olympiacos, where he played two matches for the club for the Portuguese side before joining Famalicao during the same season.
He made 20 appearances for Famalicao and will now ply his trade for Sporting CP during the 2020/21 edition of the Liga NOS. The player will look to impress the management and coaches with excellent performances and join the club permanently.
