“Wonderboy” Thompson’s “first Twitter call out ever”, aimed at Leon Edwards

Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson has called out Leon Edwards on Twitter. Known to be “one of the nicest guys” in the MMA, “Wonderboy” has been the guy who will fight anyone. Known to never back down from a fight, the tables seem to have turned this time. As he calls out the Englishman and fellow Welterweight fighter Leon Edwards.

Check out how the “Wonderboy” called out Edwards in his “first Twitter call-out ever.”

All due respect @Leon_edwardsmma , which I have a lot of for you, I have been saying I would like to fight you for a while now! It makes sense and would be a great match up. I think that was my first Twitter call out ever. man that felt weird. #FirstTimeForEverything” ,Thompson wrote.

Although, Edwards is yet to react on the tweet, it’d be a great match up between the two with Thompson’s all-in charisma for the fight and his karate skills and Edward’s striking and ability to explode mid-fight. Thompson is currently ranked as the No. 6 welterweight in the UFC. However, he has not fought since November 2019 when he won a decision over Vicente Luque in a “Fight of the Night” at UFC 244. Edwards, the No. 3 ranked welterweight, has not fought in 2020, either, so this seems like a very reasonable matchup between two highly-ranked welterweights.

Both the fighters have not fought once in 2020 so booking them for a fight would be a reasonable move from, for the UFC.

The Welterweight Division-

Stephen Thompson calls out Leon Edwards

In the welterweight division, UFC is currently eyeing at making Welterweight Champ Kamaru Usman defend his belt against #1 contender Gilbert Burns. Other matchups which do make sense in the division right now would be Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington. The Welterweight division is arguably the most stacked division with around 5-6 fighters waiting for a title shot.

The division is also looking at booking the highly anticipated rematch for the BMF belt between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz. So it’d be reasonable to include Thompson and Edwards in UFC 256. Below, we relive the best knockouts from Thompson.
