With Delhi Capitals storming its way into the final of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) for the fourth successive season, the 2026 tournament is poised for an exciting conclusion. DCW is set to face off against the 2024 WPL champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in the final.

The WPL has transitioned from a promising experiment into a powerhouse, fueled by India Women’s 2025 World Cup triumph and a massive surge in viewership. Coming to how the five teams have fared out, WPL 2026 has been a rollercoaster of first-time failures and dominant streaks.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished on top of the table, followed by Gujarat Giants (2nd), Delhi Capitals (3rd). Defending champions Mumbai Indians failed to make it through to the play-offs, alongside UP Warriorz.

For Smriti Mandhana and Co., they secured a place in the final after finishing up top, while also setting a new record for the longest winning streak in WPL history. RCB started the season with a historic five consecutive wins. DC on the other hand, finished with eight points at the end of the league stages, setting up an eliminator clash with Gujarat Giants. DC maintained its perfect record of reaching the WPL final in each of the four seasons with a dominant seven-wicket victory over GG in Vadodara.

It was a one-sided affair for DC against GG in the WPL 2026 eliminator. Delhi restricted Gujarat to a first innings total of 168/7, with Beth Mooney scoring an unbeaten 62 off 51 balls. For DC, Chinelle Henry picked up a three-wicket haul.

Contributions from all four out of Delhi Capitals’ top-four batters, including Lizelle Lee (43 runs off 24), Shafali Verma (31 runs off 21 balls), Laura Wolvaardt (32 runs off 24 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (41 runs off 23 balls) saw them over the line in just 15.4 overs.

Thereafter, the WPL 2026 summit clash will be one to watch out for, with the Delhi Capitals aiming to lift the trophy that has eluded them for a long time now. The last time RCB and DC faced off in the final, the former won by eight wickets, with Sophie Molineux being named POTM.
