WrestleMania is almost three weeks away, and there’s still plenty of room on the card. The 42nd edition of the pop-culture extravaganza in Las Vegas is reportedly set to feature the return of one of the most sadistic match types in WWE history: Hell in a Cell. According to Ibou of Self Made, Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu will take place at The Showcase of the Immortals, and they’ll duke it out inside the celled structure.

WWE has announced that Nick Aldis will provide an update on the situation involving McIntyre and Fatu after they wreaked havoc almost the entire night brawling on last week’s SmackDown. The general manager couldn’t contain these individuals. They fell off a scaffold to close out the show after having battered each other during different instances earlier in the night.

Aldis is expected to announce that the only way to settle their beef is to pit McIntyre and Fatu inside Hell in a Cell. However, the internet is divided on whether the feud actually warrants a stipulation like that. ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ was partly responsible for making the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ the Undisputed WWE Champion back in January when Fatu interfered in that Three Stages of Hell match on SmackDown.

The former Bloodline member also blamed McIntyre as the one that ambushed him backstage last year, but Drew has time and again denied those allegations. WWE has yet to unveil who exactly was the one that took Fatu out and cost him months of TV time.

There’s some speculation about Randy Orton being the real assailant, with Drew McIntyre barely being dragged as the scapegoat. This might get revealed after WrestleMania 42 to set up a feud between Orton and Fatu.

‘The Viper’ could create history by becoming a 15-time world champion by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania, and his first major feud with the WWE title around his waist could end up with Fatu.

The latter is, in all likelihood, the favorite to beat McIntyre at WrestleMania with ‘The Chosen One’ reportedly taking time off from WWE to film his next movie, Highlander. A loss at WrestleMania would definitely sting for McIntyre, but it would drive him away from WWE for a bit, ultimately allowing him to start over.

Update on Gunther’s WrestleMania 42 status amid ongoing WWE absence

Gunther hasn’t appeared on WWE programming in over three weeks, which is bizarre considering he’s arguably the top heel on the company’s roster at the moment. Some fans online are joking that’s what one gets after retiring the likes of Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles in the span of just over 6 months.

Gunther doesn't have a WrestleMania 42 opponent yet

‘The Ring General’ was reportedly scheduled to take on Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania in Vegas until it fell into limbo after Mysterio fractured both of his ribs during a match in late January. The unfortunate injury to Mysterio had put Gunther’s WrestleMania participation in doubt.

However, as per a latest report from WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, ‘The Career Killer’ is still slated for a substantial role at WrestleMania, according to those in WWE, despite his absence from TV tapings of late.

Considering a match with Mysterio is out of the window, what else could Gunther do at The Grandest Stage of Them All? The easiest option would be to let him talk some trash about the entire WWE roster from the middle of that ring, saying something along the lines that no one back there could lace his boots. Gunther would then issue an open challenge, and what if Ilja Dragunov answers it?

They have plenty of history with each other, and Dragunov has often been hailed as Gunther’s kryptonite since the moment he ended the erstwhile Walter’s 870-day NXT UK title reign many years ago. The fans are clamoring for this to happen, but it’s merely a pipe dream unless WWE is actually planning to pull the trigger on their match.
