WWE recently kicked off their European tour, heading into WrestleMania 41. Thanks to these events, fans will get to witness international crowds on Raw and SmackDown for the next two weeks. This tour also features numerous house shows across the continent. WWE is doing their best to fill as many seats as they can by putting on stellar matches such as Gunther vs. AJ Styles.
Gunther recently defended his World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles inside a steel cage at two live events, one in Dortmund and one in Hannover. Being a house show, the title did not change hands, and the 37-year-old emerged victorious in both these bouts.
Gunther is obviously a huge attraction at these house shows, as well as the weekly programming episodes being hosted across the continent. Of course, he is the World Heavyweight Champion. Other than that, the Ring General has European roots, hailing from Austria, and finds huge fan support wherever he goes.

Gunther has also had an extremely underwhelming reign as World Heavyweight Champion, especially compared to his Intercontinental title run. Now, WWE has put him in incredible TV matches over the past few weeks to help with that. However, giving him such iconic matches on PLEs could have done wonders for the Austrian.
WWE Universe reacts to Gunther facing AJ Styles at house show and calls out Triple H
The WWE Universe was surprised to see the promotion run a dream match like this, that too inside a steel cage, at a regular house show. This led to a whole flurry of insults against Jey Uso. Netizens argued that he couldn’t hold a candle to AJ Styles and was only being pushed because he sold a lot of merchandise and because of his catchphrase.

Wrestling fans called out Triple H for making Gunther’s matches at live events so much more exciting than his bouts on PLEs. He even took on CM Punk inside a steel cage in the latter’s hometown of Chicago. Another house show pitted him against his old rival, Ilja Dragunov. This is a match-up that fans have been asked for ever since the Mad Dragon made his main roster debut, especially in front of a European crowd.

However, for some reason, The Cerebral Assassin has refrained from putting on these matches at huge shows. Rather, the Ring General’s opponent for the biggest show of the year is Jey Uso. The Samoan is largely criticized for his in-ring skills as a singles wrestler. Furthermore, giving him the Royal Rumble victory was controversial as it is.
Jey Uso gives his thoughts on main-eventing WrestleMania against Gunther
Gunther vs. Jey Uso was announced as one of the marquee matchups for WrestleMania 41.Β Despite featuring a world championship and the Royal Rumble winner, the likelihood of this bout headlining either night is minimal. Other matches boast greater star power and more captivating storylines, making them stronger contenders for the main event spot.

Speaking with theΒ Daily Mail, Uso gave his opinion on this matter. He said that he was the one who showed up, willing to do the work and do whatever was necessary. The WWE star said that Triple H knew that he had shed blood, sweat, and tears to be where he is right now.Β After all, the Cerebral Assassin had experienced the same situation himself.
WrestleMania, night one or night two, whichever [night] Iβm on. I donβt care if Iβm on last, I donβt care if I open it up. Iβm going to go out there and theyβre going to remember my match, so thatβs all Iβm focused on.

Now that he had given Uso the same opportunity, he was determined not to disappoint anyone. The Samoan expressed that it didnβt matter to him which night of WrestleMania he competed on. Whether he opened the show or closed it, his focus was on delivering a match that the audience would remember. He acknowledged that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, one that might never come again in his career.
