WWE is a marketing machine when it comes to generating hype for its matches, superstars, their events, and upcoming debuts. The promotion often makes use of short videos, promotional packages, and vignettes to do so. The company recently aired a new vignette on the latest episode of SmackDown, which has fans buzzing on social media.
The vignette in question featured police sirens, an anonymous man getting in a car, starting its engine, and driving around at night. Although the promotion did not reveal any definitive details, this is most likely a teaser for the Motor City Machine Guns, who will soon make their debut on WWE programming. The tag team is most famous for their stint in TNA and recently signed a deal with WWE.
WWE has run plenty of such vignettes in the past. Most recently, the promotion hyped up the return of Giovanni Vinci’s new gimmick on the blue brand. However, the company is infamous for sometimes going overboard with these videos.
The “Veer is coming” vignettes became a huge meme in the professional wrestling community after WWE continued to hype up his debut every week without any real update. An even worse situation occurred with Emma, whose “Emmalina” gimmick was hyped up for six months straight before she actually made an appearance on Raw.

The WWE Universe was thrilled after seeing this teaser on SmackDown and came up with several theories for what this could mean. The most popular theory continues to be the debut of the Motor City Machine Guns on WWE TV. Xavier Woods also teased their debut in WWE a few weeks ago. The tag team was a fan favorite in TNA. Hence, netizens could not wait to see the heights they could reach in the Stamford-based promotion.
Some fans thought that this video signaled the return of the Fastlane PLE. However, there is no more time left in the calendar year to schedule the event. Furthermore, it is unlikely that it will go back to being a February PLE, as WWE is planning to host the Elimination Chamber in the UK around that same time.
It is worth noting that this vignette aired on SmackDown, not NXT. The tag team may completely skip the developmental brand and debut straight on the main roster. They could add a lot of depth to the blue brand’s tag division, which is already in great shape. They would be highly credible challengers to The Bloodline for the tag belts, who defended their championships last night in a banger ladder match.
