“Hand in hand with BKFC”- Paige VanZant details the lucrative nature of her contract with AEW
Paige VanZant
Former UFC strawweight, current BKFC boxer as well as current AEW superstar Paige VanZant is one big name in the world of combat sports irrespective of her stint being over with the UFC a long time ago. VanZant last competed in MMA in July 2020 when she lost to Amanda Ribas via submission. Safe to say, VanZant is done with her MMA career with a record 8-5 with 5 of 8 wins coming via submission.
After this, VanZant gave it a try and is still going on with her career now in combat sports as a bare-knuckle boxer when she signed to Bare Knuckle Boxing Championship (BKFC). VanZant is so far 0-2 as a bare-knuckle boxer. Other than that, VanZant is simultaneously trying her hands in professional wrestling as well. Thanks to American Top Team founder Dan Lambert that has made a bridge between MMA fighters and professional wrestlers at All Elite Wrestling (AEW), VanZant is often seen as a heel for a lot of big moments inside the wrestling ring.
Paige Vanzant all in to perform for AEW whilst “being herself” as a fighter for BKFC
VanZant chose MMA Fighting’s THE MMA HOUR with Ariel Helwani to talk about various things, including her future in both BKFC and AEW along with a peek of detail of her contract and how WWE and AEW approached her for her stint in professional wrestling.
“[It wasn’t] a bidding war,” says VanZant “There were just different contracts like details and like styles like there were things with AEW, I mean that is working hand in hand with BKFC and letting me be a professional fighter. So I still get to be myself it’s not an exclusive full-time wrestling contract so yes, I’m in the AEW I’m going to wrestle for them but they’re also letting me be a part of BKFC still…” concludes VanZant.
What do you think of VanZant’s extensively lucrative contract as a Bare-Knuckle boxer as well as a professional wrestling performer? Do you think many big names like VanZant should get such rights for having flexible deals like that from other organisations as well? How do you see VanZant’s overall exploration into combat sports and entertainment so far?
