An 8th-grade youth wrestler from Illinois sucker-punches his opponent after a loss. The video from Oak Park River Forest High School is going viral on social media. Netizens shower sharp criticism on the aggressor.

Hafid Alicea, the aggressor brutally sucker-punches his opponent Cooper Corder after losing the match 14-2. Cooper Corder from SPAR Academy and Hafid Alicea from Maine West High School both participated in the ” 2023 Beat the Streets Developmental FS tournament” where the incident took place.

Both eighth graders, paired up for the 125-128 lb match and Cooper dominated the entire game. Afterward, when both the wrestlers went in for a handshake, Hafid Alicea faked the handshake before punching Cooper Corder in the face. In the video, Hafid Alicea in the blue singlet can be seen being escorted out by the referee after the hit. Two adults run towards Cooper Corder’s aid who has since recovered.

Cooper Corder reportedly suffered facial injuries around his nose and now wears a face mask during games. It is unclear what action the authorities took against the aggressor Hafid Alicea. Authorities call the police who conduct a preliminary investigation. Justin Pearch, the founder of SPAR Academy reportedly told TMZ that Cooper Corder is already back in training and is making the best of the situation.
