Barty came into this tournament as the winner of the Miami Open 2021, and at the first tournament of the clay court season she has played well so far. After a bye in the first round, she beat Misaki Doi easily in the second round.

The third round saw her overcome a tough challenge from local girl Shelby Rogers. Rogers stretched the match to the third set, before going down fighting 6-7 6-4 4-6. Her opponent in the Quarter-finals is Paula Badosa.

Ashleigh Barty vs Paula Badosa: Prediction

Ash Barty

Barty is a great player on clay, as her French Open triumph in 2019 tells us. She has got a great kick serve too which she uses to perfection on the slow but bouncy clay courts. Badosa is no slouch on clay either, and has reached the fourth round of the French open. But Barty has form with her and should win this match.

Match Prediction: Ashleigh Barty will beat Paula Badosa in three sets.
