Leylah Fernandez

18-year old teenager Leylah Fernandez has made a very unpredictable start to the 2021 season. She had failed to qualify for the quarter-finals in any of the tournament she had played until the 2021 Abierto GNP Seguros at Mexico where she won the title. However, at the Miami Open 2021 she lost in the qualifying rounds making her a very unpredictable player.

The Volvo Car Open will be just the third appearance for Shuai Zhang this year, having previously featured at the 2021 Miami Open and 2021 Australian Open losing in her first round matches at both the tournament, and will be looking to add some WTA points.
