Garbine Muguruza vs Victoria Azarenka: Preview
Muguruza has been on the cusp of finding her best form for a while now, and she is very close to finding the game that brought her many Grand Slam Titles. In the tournament so far she has been excellent. In her first round she beat Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets 6-2 7-6, and found confidence from that win.
A confident Muguruza then took on an in form Aryna Sabalenka. In the match against Sabalenka it was apparent that Muguruza had that extra bit of class. A three sets victory for Muguruza 6-2 6-7 6-3. In the Quarter Finals Muguruza overcame the giant killer Maria Sakkari 6-3 6-1, to book a place in the Semi Finals of the competition.
Her opponent for the Semi Finals is Victoria Azarenka. Azarenka has been in great form too. She beat Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round 6-2 6-3. In the second round she defeated Laura Siegemund 6-4 6-2. In the third round, in what is her biggest scalp in this tournament, she ousted the top seed. She beat the World no.5 Elina Svitolina 6-2 6-4.

Garbine Muguruza vs Victoria Azarenka: Head-to-Head
The current head to head between Muguruza and Azarenka is 2-2. Both players have won two matches each. Ironically one match from each player’s side was a walkover. The last time these two players met was in 2020 at the Italian Open which Muguruza won 3-6 6-3 6-4.
Garbine Muguruza vs Victoria Azarenka : Prediction
In the match against Sakkari, Muguruza was at her classical best. She kept attacking the net, attacking the opponent’s serve until she broke her down. The Greek had no answer to the power of Muguruza and her accurate play. The key to tough matches is to start strongly, and Muguruza did just that.
She was 4-0 up in the first set within a blink of an eye, and after that it was always going to be a chasing game for Sakkari. Azarenka on the other hand had to fight hard for the win.
It also didn’t help that she was suffering with a lower back problem. Azarenka to her credit kept going for the winners throughout the match and in the end hit double the number of winners than her opponent. Muguruza though looks like the favourite to win this.
Match Prediction: Muguruza to win in three sets.
