Sabalenka has handsome great results post lockdown. She won three tournaments, Ostrava Open, Linz Open and Abu Dhabi Open back to back as well. But post that she hasn’t quite been able to assert her dominance on the tour.

In the Australian Open she lost to Serena Williams and in the just concluded Qatar Open she fell to Garbine Muguruza. Maybe finally fatigue is setting in on the twenty two year old Belarusian. Her second round opponent is the veteran French Woman Alize Cornet.

Cornet who was once ranked as high as no.11 in the world, has been off colour post lockdown. Her only notable performance in the recent past was the fourth round finish she managed in the 2020 US Open.

Sabalenka is a solid player with power to spare and a serve to envy. The question is, does she have the patience to play a defensive game if that is needed. Cornet though doesn’t quite have the power nor the quality to bother Sabalenka. This should be an easy win for Sabalenka.
