Swiatek has had a great start to life on the tour. At nineteen she is already a French Open winner, and she also won the Adelaide International last month. In the process proving to everyone watching that she is not a flash in the pan. But now people will know what her strengths and weaknesses are, so it will be interesting to see how she reacts.

Swiatek defeated Misaki Doi of Japan 6-2 6-4 in the first round. Her third round opponent is Garbine Muguruza. Muguruza is a player with proven history. She was down on form before but is slowly starting to get back to her best. Muguruza was the only player in the Australian Open who could take a set off Naomi Osaka.

In the last tournament she played, in Qatar, she reached the final as well. Here at the Dubai Open she overcame Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round, 6-3 7-5 and in the second round got the better of Amanda Anisimova 6-4 6-2.
