Iga Swiatek vs. Elena Rybakina: Match Preview
Iga Swiatek was dealing with a slump in form earlier this year as she was struggling to make deep runs. Even on the clay swing, Swiatek was finding it hard to win her matches.

At Roland Garros, where she is a four-time champion, Swiatek was even handed a bagel by Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals. And as the tennis world was waiting to see her end her title drought, it came at an event perhaps none had anticipated this year.
During the grass swing, Swiatek played her career’s first final on the surface at the Bad Homburg Open, losing the match to Jessica Pegula. The 24-year-old continued her winning ways and ended Wimbledon in her favor by double-bageling Amanda Anisimova. During the North American hardcourt swing, the six-time Grand Slam champion clinched her 11th WTA 1000 title at the Cincinnati Open by defeating Jasmine Paolini.
The 24-year-old continued her winning ways by lifting the Korea Open, finally fulfilling a family dream. She then lost in the fourth round of the China Open and the quarterfinals of the Wuhan Open. These season’s last two WTA Finals Swiatek had skipped in 2024 because she was serving her three-week provisional suspension and missing the mandatory tournaments took her to the second position from the top of the rankings table.
Elena Rybakina, just like Swiatek, was struggling to win earlier this season, but in May, she lifted the Strasbourg Open by defeating Liudmila Samsonova. Since then, she made multiple deep runs, but it was not enough for her to grab a spot in the WTA Finals.
Her victory at the Ningbo Open over Ekaterina Alexandrova helped her rankings in the live race to Riyadh, but still, she needed two match wins at the Pan Pacific Open. After winning those matches, the Kazakh ace withdrew from the event due to injury problems.
Iga Swiatek vs. Elena Rybakina: Match Prediction
Last year on the WTA Finals, Swiatek won two round-robin matches, but Gauff’s defeat to Barbora Krejcikova spoiled her plans. This year marked Swiatek’s fourth appearance in the WTA Finals. Rybakina made her WTA Finals debut in 2023 and also qualified for it last year. Both times, her run ended in the round robin stage.

Swiatek has met Rybakina 10 times, winning six of those matches. Before this year, Swiatek trailed in the head-to-head matchups, but this season, she ended up winning all four matches she played against the 2022 Wimbledon champion.
Match prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in three sets.
