Jasmine Paolini is the only player from Group Steffi Graf yet to win a match. The Italian has made her second consecutive appearance in the WTA Finals.
In her final round robin match, the two-time Grand Slam singles finalist will be up against Jessica Pegula, her fellow Grand Slam singles finalist. In their previous matches, Paolini and Pegula locked horns with Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Coco Gauff. Sabalenka and Gauff will play in the second semifinal on November 6.
Paolini is eliminated from the semifinals, but Pegula is still in contention for the last four. Sabalenka has yet to suffer defeats and will qualify for the semifinals if she beats Gauff. The Belarusian would have played in the last four had she defeated Pegula in straight sets.
In Group Serena Williams, reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys is no longer in contention for the semifinals. Elena Rybakina became the first player to qualify for the semifinals. Except for Gauff and Iga Swiatek, the rest of the players have not yet tasted success in the year-end championships.

Jessica Pegula vs. Jasmine Paolini: Match Preview
Jasmine Paolini made finals and won titles in several doubles tournaments along with compatriot Sara Errani, but struggled to make deep runs at the start of the season in her singles event and played a final when only the Italian Open started. The home favorite defeated Coco Gauff in the final.
Her losing streak continued in the next few tournaments until the Cincinnati Open, where she came close to winning her third WTA 1000 title. Iga Swiatek denied her the win in the final. Paolini needed to play the Ningbo Open to book a ticket for Riyadh. She defeated Veronica Kudermetova and Belinda Bencic before losing the match to eventual champion Elena Rybakina.
Pegula kick-started her campaign for the 2025 season in an emphatic fashion, playing the final of the Adelaide International, but failed to go past compatriot Madison Keys. She ended up featuring in five more finals, losing the Miami Open to Sabalenka and the Wuhan Open to Gauff.
The three titles that she has clinched were at the ATX Open by beating McCartney Kessler, the Charleston Open by beating Sofia Kenin, and the Bad Homburg Open by beating Swiatek.
Jessica Pegula vs. Jasmine Paolini: Match Prediction
Paolini, in her previous two round robin matches, suffered straight-set defeat at the hands of both Sabalenka and Gauff. Pegula first beat Gauff in three sets but lost to the four-time Grand Slam singles champion in three sets.
Paolini qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time last year on the back of her successful campaign at the Dubai Open and her appearances in the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon, where she lost the matches to Iga Swiatek and Barbora Krejcikova, respectively. She failed to qualify for the WTA Finals semifinals.
Pegula was an alternate in the 2021 WTA Finals, but now she has qualified for the event for the fourth consecutive time. Pegula was the finalist in 2023, losing the match to Swiatek. Last year, her campaign ended in the round-robin stage.
The American has met Paolini five times, and not once has the latter secured a win. The upcoming match will be their first meeting since the 2023 Canadian Open.
