The 2025 WTA Finals, which is the last tour-level tournament in the women’s circuit is set to take center stage from Saturday (November 1) till the next on November 8, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The top eight best players over the course of the season will compete for the title and each player will also hope to end the season on a high note.
Aryna Sabalenka leads the line-up as the first player to have qualified for the season-ending tournament. She also leads in the WTA rankings and has held the position of No.1 since the start of the 2025 season. She’s yet to claim the title in her career and has never reached the final of the tournament.
Iga Swiatek comes second in the list of the best eight players having contested for her place in the second half of the season. The World No.2 lost her mantle as the Queen of Clay this year after failing to defend any of her red dirt crowns, but got back to winning titles at the Wimbledon Championships.
The third player, Coco Gauff, is the defending champion of the tournament after claiming it for the first time in her career last season. The American star defeated Qinwen Zheng in the final last year. Zheng is not in the list this year, as she has been through a rough patch with injuries, but the Wuhan Open champion will hope to win the title again.
Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova, and Madison Keys are the three American stars in the list, with Gauff making it four. Keys is back at the WTA Finals for the first time after ten years. She earned her slot early in the season by winning her maiden Grand Slam at the Australian Open in Melbourne.
Anisimova reached back-to-back Grand Slam finals for the first time in her career but failed to win any of them. The World No.5 has not played any tour-level match since beating Linda Noskova to win the China Open, which was her second WTA 1000 crown of the season. Meanwhile, Pegula has remained one of the most consistent players on tour, winning three titles this year.
Jasmine Paolini and Elena Rybakina were the last two players to earn their place at the season-ending tournament. Paolini finished in seventh in the Live Race after reaching the semi-finals of the Ningbo Open, while Rybakina claimed her place when she defeated Victoria Mboko to get to the last four of the Tokyo Open.
