Sofia Kenin vs Barbora Krejcikova: Preview

Sofia Kenin

Former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin will begin her campaign on Wednesday. This will also be the first tournament after she parted ways with her father as her coach. She is currently shy of good form and would like to find momentum in Rome.

She is yet to win a match on Clay this season. In the previous two tournaments, she was knocked out of the very first round. Having said that, the American was the finalist last year at Roland Garros where she lost to Iga Swiatek and would like to go one step ahead this time in Paris.

This will be the first meeting between the two. They haven’t met on tour yet and hence the H2H stands deadlock at 0-0.

Sofia Kenin vs Barbora Krejcikova: Prediction

Sofia Kenin

It could turn out to be a very tricky encounter as none of the players are in good form. Kenin has all the capabilities to win on Clay and she would desperately want a win to kickstart her Clay camapign.

Slowly and steadily, Krejcikova has been improving her singles game. Her net game followed by a big serve will be the trick to defeat the 4th seed but she would also be wary of Kenin’s returning abilities. Expect the match to go down the distance with Kenin cruising into the Round of 16.

Prediction: Kenin to win in three sets.
