Jabeur has been in good form on clay this year. Last month, she reached the Semi-finals of the Charleston Open and followed it up with an appearance in the final of Charleston 2. In this tournament so far she has beaten Kazakhstan’s Yaroslava Shvedova in the first round. In the second, she took three sets to defeat Sloane Stephens of the USA, winning in three sets 4-6 6-1 6-3. Her third round opponent is Belinda Bencic. 

Bencic has been on what seems like an eternity long  inconsistent run of form since reaching the Final of the Adelaide International in Australia. She has had first or second round exits galore and her lack of confidence has reflected on her game. At the Madrid Open though, she has played better. In the first round she overcame Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets 6-4 6-2 and in the second round she beat Bernarda Pera 3-6 6-1 7-6.
