Top Half
The top half of the draw will feature top seed Ons Jabeur, the third seed and local talent Shelby Rogers, dark horse Danka Kovinic and the seventh seed Lauren Davis. The round of sixteen matchup between Danka Kovinic and Lauren Davis will be very interesting. The winner of this match will come up against Shelby Rogers.
Rogers though is in good form, and is expected to win this match and make it to the Semi-finals. The first semi-final between Rogers and Jabeur will be a close contest. Jabeur is in good form and reached the Semi-finals of the Charleston Open. Rogers lost to top seed Ash Barty in a round of sixteen encounter in the same competition. But, Rogers has the advantage of being the local girl. Rogers should edge this contest and reach the Finals of the WTA MUSC Health Women’s Open 2021.
The second Semi-final is between Alize Cornet and Sara Errani. Cornet beat world no,17 Elise Mertens in straight sets in the Charleston Open. advancing as far as the round of sixteen in the competition. Errani was playing on the clay courts of Copa Colsanitas. She beat the second seed Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round, and made it to the Quarter-final of the event. Both players are in good form but the track record of Errani on clay makes her the favourite to win this.

Rogers has already lost one chance to win a tournament at home, in the Charleston Open, but she will be doubly motivated to win this match and win a WTA title in her hometown. Errani at thirty three might find her body not moving so well after having played so many matches in the week. Another advantage for the twenty eight year old American in the finals of the WTA MUSC Health Women’s Open 2021.
