Since May of last year, Randy Orton has been out of the in-ring competition and WWE TV as well. He suffered a back injury during the attack by The Bloodline after his last match on SmackDown. Orton has a history of back issues, which is why his back surgery and recovery took time. The back injury and surgery process have kept him out for over nine months now. While fans must be hoping for the Apex Predator’s return, his career might be shortened due to the injury given he is 42 years old now.
With his retirement coming soon, fans might be wondering who Randy Orton should face in his last match. Throughout his illustrious career, The Viper has been involved in some of the most memorable rivalries in WWE history. Randy rose to prominence with his involvement in one of the greatest factions, “The Evolution.” However, all the other faction members, including Triple H, have taken retirement. He also had great feuds with the likes of Edge, John Cena, and many other big names in the company.
The Legend Killer also was and still is the youngest world champion in the history of WWE, winning it at the age of “24.” Orton has been a mainstay in the WWE for over two decades. Let’s take a look at the possible opponents for Randy Orton before he hangs up his boots.

#3 John Cena vs. Randy Orton

The rivalry between John Cena and Randy Orton is still one of the most memorable in WWE history. It has encompassed some of the biggest moments in wrestling history, from intense matches to unlikely alliances. Both Cena and Orton are legends in their own right, and their rivalry has helped cement their place in the annals of professional wrestling history.
The rivalry took place from 2007 to 2009 and saw Orton and Cena engage in a number of intense battles. The two had several classic matches, including an Iron Man match at Bragging Rights 2009. The rivalry rekindled in 2013, with Orton overcoming Cena in a TLC match to become the WWE world heavyweight champion again coming out on top in the rematch at the Royal Rumble.
Cena and Orton have squared off against each other so many times. However, it would be fitting if John Cena is Randy Orton’s final opponent to bid farewell to one of the G.O.A.Ts. Given that Cena also has only a few matches left in him, this farewell would be perfect.

#2 Matt Riddle vs. Randy Orton

Two years ago, Randy Orton formed an unlikely alliance with Matt Riddle after being chased by Riddle for weeks. The team of The Viper and Riddle was named “RK-Bro” and managed to grab the attention of fans. The interaction between both of them every week was effortlessly entertaining, with Orton acting as a mentor for Riddle.
The team RK-Bro touched great heights by winning the Raw tag team titles and dominating the tag team division. Randy’s last match before his injury and exile from the WWE ring was with Riddle, in which they lost the Raw tag titles to The Usos. Considering the history between the two, Riddle would be the perfect opponent for Orton to put over in his last match.
On the other hand, being referred to as Randy Orton’s final opponent would be a significant achievement in Matt Riddle’s career. The match is more likely to happen after the Apex Predator’s return and the implosion of the RK-Bro.

#1 Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes have had a storied history in the WWE dating back over 15 years. Randy also joined forces with Cody and Ted DiBiase Jr. to name it “The Legacy.” Together, they formed a dominant faction that wreaked havoc on WWE’s main roster. However, their alliance was short-lived as tensions between the three eventually boiled over, leading to a triple-threat match at WrestleMania 26, in which Orton emerged victorious.
Currently, Cody Rhodes is the biggest babyface in the WWE after reinventing himself in the independent scene. Given the history and current scenario, Cody would be a fitting opponent for Orton in his last match, considering the star power of both individuals. Regardless of the match quality, the feud between both of them would be interesting to follow as well.
