“You’re fired”: All’s not well between Shane and Vince McMahon

The McMahons

Vince McMahon is one of the most powerful men in the entire professional wrestling industry. He has been at the helm of the company since the last four decades and has made WWE a global brand since. Today, WWE is available in over 900 million homes globally and in 28 languages.

When you are managing such a massive brand, it is quite difficult to often impress the fans. More a major part of his four decades long tenure, Vince McMahon was able to ensure that his company had complete monopoly over the industry. But since the last couple of years, WWE has been getting some steep competition from All Elite Wrestling.

But the pressure to deliver a high-quality product, consistently, is at an all-time high. Any slight drop in quality and WWE might lose their fans to their competitors. One such recent drop in quality came at one of the biggest professional wrestling events of the year – Royal Rumble. While it was an average event overall, but the lowest point of the event came at the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

The 30-man match was produced by Vince McMahon’s son Shane McMahon – and he received severe criticism for the way the match was written to push him massively. He saved a spot for himself in the Final Four of the match, when it could’ve easily been given to an established Superstar or atleast a rising star.

Reportedly, Shane McMahon had made his return to the company for a longer run, which would’ve continued till Wrestlemania 38. But considering how Shane was hellbent on pushing himself as a top professional wrestler, he was sent home by none other than his own father, Vince McMahon.

Shane McMahon’s backstage behavior led him to being sent home. But with this move, there was confusion as the company’s initial plans were in a limbo. But a report from Ringside News suggests that Vince McMahon has already decided a replacement for his son, for Wrestlemania 38.

The initial plan was to have Shane McMahon collide against former WWE Champion Seth Rollins. While there is no clarity on who has exactly replaced McMahon. But if the latest episode of Raw is anything to go by, the replacement could be Randy Orton. The two had recently collided in a Tag Team match, ending in a stare-off between the Monday Night Messiah and the Viper.
