WWE has announced that they have signed a deal with Netflix to create a docu-series on the life of WWE CEO and Chairman, Vince McMahon. The announcement was made during WWE’s Third Quarter earnings call for 2020.
WWE’s President and Chief Revenue Officer, Nick Khan, who took over the role this year, did not go much into the details of the deal with Netflix. The name of the docu-series wasn’t revealed. But he did inform that the series will be directed by Chris Smith. Smith is well-known for his work as a director on Netflix’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. Khan also mentioned that Bill Simmons would be one of the Executive Producers on the show. Simmons is a sports analyst and a former sports writer. He has founded the sports and pop culture website, The Ringer.
Around two years back, there were reports about a biopic being in the works. It was reportedly titled Pandemonium and starred Bradley Cooper playing the role of Vince McMahon.

WWE has its own streaming platform, the WWE Network. The platform allows the subscribers to stream all the WWE pay-per-views, in addition to providing access to exclusive WWE content.
But, lately WWE has started producing shows that stream on Netflix. Two WWE shows were launched on Netflix right after their biggest PPV Wrestlemania 36. One was a family sitcom starring The Big Show in The Big Show Show. The other was about a kid finding a magical mask that gave him magical wrestling powers. The show, named The Main Event starred The Miz, Kofi Kingston and Sheamus. Khan even mentioned that WWE will soon be signing deals with other streaming services as well to bring more content.
On their own streaming service, WWE Network, WWE has been airing documentaries based on The Undertaker’s career. This is a month long campaign, which will culminate with WWE’s next PPV, Survivor Series. The PPV, this year will be based on a tribute to The Dead Man, as he completes 30-years in the business.
Survivor Series is scheduled to air live on 22nd November 2020.
