It has been officially announced that the traditional Andre the Giant memorial battle royal will once again take place at Wrestlemania Smackdown instead of Wrestlemania itself. Many superstars, as well as champions from the blue and red brand, have been announced for the match.

Since WrestleMania 30 in 2014, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has become a mainstay. There have been a variety of winners a few of them being Cesaro, Big Show, Matt Hardy as well as Braun Strowman. Traditionally, the match used to take place at Wrestlemania but owing to the covid protocols in 2020, WWE had to abide by not allowing so many superstars in the same ring at the same time at the grandest stage of them all.
Hence, it was moved to Smackdown and it was believed that it would be on Smackdown only for that particular year. However, that hasn’t been the case as the battle royal will now take place on Wrestlemania Smackdown for the 3rd consecutive year. So far, 17 Superstars have been announced, both from Raw as well as Smackdown with the names being:
Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander, Akira Tozawa, Drew Gulak, Reggie, Commander Azeez, Apollo Crews, Erik, Ivar, Madcap Moss, R-Truth, Shanky, Jinder Mahal, Robert Roode, Damian Priest, and United States Champion Finn Balor.
It must be noted that Mansoor wasn’t seen on television since January 2020 and he’s scheduled to return in the battle royal next week. On the other hand, Finn Balor and Damian Priest both are announced for the battle royal which might indicate that they might not have their rematch at Wrestlemania. It seems quite disappointing that there hasn’t been any Unites States Championship match announced for the show of shows which takes place one week from today.
