At WrestleMania XL, Gunther‘s record-breaking Intercontinental Championship reign came to an end. Sami Zayn dethroned The Ring General in what was one of the best moments of the weekend. Since then, Gunther has been absent from WWE television, competing on house shows instead. Now, his next appearance on live programming has been announced by the promotion.

WWE’s social media handles revealed that Gunther will be returning on tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Moreover, the 36-year-old star will address the fans following his heartbreaking loss at WrestleMania. In fact, WWE teased his future plans during last week’s tour of the UK. Zayn defended his championship in a fatal-four way against Finn Balor, Chad Gable, and The Ring General.

Therefore, this could also potentially be the title bout for the upcoming Backlash France PLE. On the other hand, Gunther could move on to the World Title picture. With Bash in Berlin set to take place in August, The Ring General will take part in a major rivalry for the show. As for avenging his WrestleMania loss, the new champion’s got a lot on his plate right now.

On last week’s episode of Raw, Gable viciously attacked Sami Zayn in front of the latter’s family, turning heel in the process. Days later, reports claimed that The Alpha Academy leader would leave his faction and form a new partnership with The Creed Brothers. Needless to say, the Intercontinental title scene might be one of the most intriguing parts of the red brand.

Sheamus reacts to WWE announcing Gunther’s return on Raw

In addition to the enthralling main event angle on last week’s Raw, Sheamus made his return to WWE. The Celtic Warrior, who entered to his popular old theme song, beat Ivar in a fun match. Later, he revealed that he almost ended his career due to injury and how elated he was to finally wrestle.

As such, the three-time WWE Champion took no time in sending a message to his old rival, Gunther. Sheamus replied to The Ring General’s post on X, taking a jab at his moniker. Obviously, the two share a lot of history dating back to the summer of 2022. During their feud, they fought in two of the greatest matches in recent times.

First, Gunther got the better of the Irish-born wrestler at Clash At The Castle. Six months later, they competed in a triple threat match that included Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 39. Hence, fans are excited at the prospect of the pair reigniting their rivalry in the foreseeable future.
