WWE announced partnership with Crunchyroll
WWE recently had their first investor call for 2021 and they made some major announcements. One of the most surprising announcements was that WWE will be partnering with the anime streaming service, Crunchyroll, for a project.
The details of the new WWE anime project were not revealed but more announcements on the same are expected soon. But one thing certain is that we will be soon seeing numerous WWE Superstars in their anime avatars.
Crunchyroll was recently purchased by Sony Entertainment and is a popular streaming service for anime content. This is the first time WWE will be producing anime content. Apart from that, a show based on Rey Mysterio is also currently in the works for Cartoon Network.
Anime references have often been seen on WWE
There have been numerous instances of WWE Superstars referencing the world of anime. Some WWE stars have worn gears that displayed their love for anime.
Former Tag Team Champions The New Day have worn the Saiyan armor from Dragon Ball Z during a WWE PPV. Ronda Rousey has also worn a t-shirt with Vegeta and Ricochet too had worn a gear that paid homage to My Hero Academia’s All Might.
The popularity of anime was bound to attract WWE and it was only a matter of time before WWE decided to produce their own show. While there is still time for the WWE anime to come out, fans can checkout some of the professional wrestling anime:
