The main event of Clash at the Castle shocked the WWE Universe. Just when Drew McIntyre had the World Heavyweight Championship won, CM Punk disguised himself as a referee to once again screw his rival. As a result, Damian Priest retained his title in a hard-hitting main event. Following the match, WWE released behind-the-scenes footage of how Punk’s plan worked out at the last second.
The official X account uploaded a clip of The Second City watching the match closely backstage. Furthermore, when he saw the opportunity to screw McIntyre, he rushed from his room and asked for a referee t-shirt from Jessika Carr. The latter obliged and immediately handed an extra one to the Best in the World. However, when Carr asked him what he needed it for, Punk didn’t answer.
Well, the female referee might’ve landed herself in hot waters. Her biggest problem will definitely be justifying her actions to Drew McIntyre, who’s certainly furious at the outcome. Prior to the world title match, fans speculated that CM Punk would somehow interfere and cost The Scottish Warrior in front of his home country.
For the second time in three months, the former AEW star helped Priest walk out as champion. After all, it was Punk’s ambush on McIntyre at WrestleMania that helped The Judgment Day member cash in his MITB contract. Having said that, it will be interesting to see how the Scot reacts on the upcoming episode of Raw.
