WWE has organized several pay-per-view events in its history. Some of them have been remarkable, while others fell short of leaving an impact on the WWE Universe, which led to their retirement. Now, it looks like WWE is once again trying to bring the special pay-per-view, as per some recent rumors and speculations.
WWE has already done their tapings for SmackDown next week. During the show, a special edition of SmackDown was announced called New Year’s Revolution. The special episode of The Blue Brand will be scheduled in the first week of 2024. The New Year’s Revolution was a pay-per-view held by WWE during their Ruthless Aggression Era.

The event took place from 2005 to 2007, in the first week of the year with the same name. It looks like WWE is trying to bring back nostalgia for the fans with this forgotten pay-per-view branding. During its time, the event has witnessed some historic moments, including the iconic MITB cash-in of Edge on John Cena.
As per the SmackDown tapings, WWE has announced a triple-threat match between AJ Styles, Randy Orton, and LA Knight for the special episode. Although, surely, WWE will make it a special event, It is going to be interesting to see if WWE brings back more events like these in the future as well.
WWE Pay Per View names have returned in the past as well
WWE has shown interest in bringing back several pay-per-views. Fans saw the return of No Mercy and Battleground this year under NXT. As per some rumors, WWE is interested in bringing back their original pay-per-view, which was retired from their annual calendars a couple of years ago.

This year, NXT produced shows like No Mercy and Battleground, which were retired pay-per-view WWE shows at one point. Moreover, PPVs like Great American Bash and Halloween Havoc have also made their return to the company after going on a hiatus for years. As per some rumors, Triple H is interested in bringing back events like Cyber Sunday. Moreover, WWE has already announced the return of The Bash, as Bash in Berlin for next year.
Furthermore, it looks like fans might witness the return of a few more iconic PPVs in the future. Although WWE has reduced the quantity of PLEs for the year, these shows can return as a special edition episode of Raw, SmackDown, or NXT. It is going to be interesting to see which PPV will make its return next in WWE’s annual calendar.
