“I just like to be left the f*ck alone” Brock Lesnar expresses his views on anxiety
During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Brock Lesnar discussed a variety of interesting issues relevant to his life as a professional wrestler, including how he combines anxiety with his high-profile WWE career.
Brock Lesnar on Anxiety
Lesnar stated to the SmackDown announcer that performing in front of live audiences is difficult for him. He gets scared in front of large crowds to the point where he has to go home and “hibernate” for several days to recover (h/t Wrestling Headlines): –
“I have a total crash after being in front of audiences. Like, I go hibernate in Saskatchewan. Like, my downers – like, the anxiety from that – like, takes me a few days to recover. Forever, yeah it’s been that way. Like, I used to be on – have big wrestling matches in high school and – like, to come down from big arenas it’s like, I get nervous around people and I’m awkward as f*ck. Yeah, but I’m putting on a show.”
The former WWE and Universal Champion went on to say that he recognizes his nervousness as a part of his personality. He is exhausted by crowds, which is why he wants to be alone:-
“Like I’ve got to go through all this thing, and that’s just who I am. And I like to go and just get away from the people. And it’s not that I dislike people. I mean, it’s not been that way, but some people, yeah, I don’t like. I just like to be left the f*ck alone, and because I’m like – like, I’m in front of an audience then it just exhausts me. And so I’ve got to go and like, recharge up.”
Since his WWE debut in 2002, Lesnar has competed in front of massive, five-figure MMA and wrestling crowds. This Saturday, he will battle for the WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia. Brock’s recent string of media encounters continues, which hasn’t been the standard for the 44-year-old during his career. However, it’s wonderful to hear him open up about personal issues like his mental health, revealing the man behind the enormous, violent monster he portrays on TV.
