“I QUIT”: Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair makes former Champion tap out
Smackdown Women's Champion
Charlotte Flair is the most successful Superstar on the WWE roster. Currently holding the Smackdown Women’s Championship, Flair is in her 13th reign as the WWE World Champion. At Royal Rumble the Queen kicked off a feud against Ronda Rousey – who went on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
The Baddest Woman on the Planet announced that she will be going after Flair for the Smackdown Women’s title at Wrestlemania 38. They feuded for a couple of months and even collided in a Tag Team match at Elimination Chamber. Then kicked off a singles feud between the two – leading up to a match at Wrestlemania 38.
At the Showcase of Immortals, Ronda Rousey managed to make Charlotte Flair tap out – but the referee failed to see that. Eventually Flair managed to retain the title and pin Rousey. They are now scheduled to collide in a rematch at Wrestlemania Backlash in an I Quit match. While their rivalry has been primarily about guaranteeing that they will make the other one tap out – Flair managed to do exactly that.
On the latest episode of the Blue brand, the Smackdown Women’s Champion came out for an interview with the new announcer – Drew Gulak. 9-time Champion Gulak was making his debut as an announcer and it seems like he has already ruffled Flair’s feathers.
After Gulak pointed out that Flair had tapped out to Rousey at Wrestlemania – things went downhill for him. The Smackdown Women’s Champion attacked him and applied the Figure Eight Lock on him. Gulak not only tapped out to the submission but even shouted, “I QUIT!!!”
Charlotte Flair revealed the inspiration for her character
The current Smackdown Women’s Champion is one of the biggest Superstars on the company today. For a major part of her career she has been playing a Heel character. In a recent promo video for WWE Evil, Charlotte Flair revealed that her father Ric Flair has been her inspiration.
“You want to know where I learned to be evil? From my dad,” mentioned the Smackdown Women’s Champion. Interestingly, both of them hold the record for the most number of World Championship reigns in the men’s and the women’s division respectively.
