“Protect my baby at all costs”: Charlotte Flair reacts to her massive win over Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania 38
Smackdown Women's Champion
Charlotte Flair was a part of one of the best matches of the Wrestlemania Saturday. She had put her Smackdown Women’s Championship on the line against Ronda Rousey in the co-main event of the first night of Showcase of Immortals. Throughout the course of the match, both the Superstars tried their best to get the other one to tap out.
Ronda Rousey even managed to make the Smackdown Women’s Champion tap out to an armbar. But unfortunately, the referee was knocked out to notice this. Otherwise, the Smackdown Women’s title would’ve been sitting comfortably on the shoulders of The Baddest Woman on the Planet.
As soon as Rousey realized that the referee was down, she ran to get him back up. But as soon as she turned, Rousey took her down with a big boot from Charlotte Flair. After a hard-hitting brawl, the big boot was all that the Queen needed to retain her Smackdown Women’s Championship and continue her 13th reign as the World Champion.
Charlotte Flair retaining her title was clearly an upset considering Ronda Rousey was the clear-favorite to walk out with the title. Moments after the match, WWE correspondent Megan Morant interview Flair and they acknowledged the elephant in the room – the controversial end of the match.
“She protects her family, I protect my baby. This is my show, my division. Miss WrestleMania. She thought she was going to walk out with my baby at the AT&T Stadium, where I made the RAW Women’s Championship famous, the inaugural RAW Women’s Championship? No. I don’t think so. I said I was going to win at all costs. I don’t care how I win. But I won, I retained. And still the SmackDown Women’s Champion,” mentioned Flair.
Charlotte Flair is likely to continue her feud with Ronda Rousey
The controversial ending of the co-main event of Wrestlemania Saturday guarantess one thing – that the feud between the Queen and the Baddest Woman on the Planet is far from over. Ronda Rousey is bound to come after the Smackdown Women’s Championship once again.
Interestingly, Rousey is back for a longer run with the company and has been advertised for future events as well. This means that we might not have to wait long for her another clash with Charlotte Flair. In fact, they could collide once again as early as at Wrestlemania Backlash.
